The Stuyvesant High School is a public college preparatory specialized school. The School is one of the nine specialized schools under the New York Department of Education.

Unlike the other public High Schools in New York, you will need to pass an entrance exam in order to gain admission to Stuyvesant or any of the Specialized Schools. Your acceptance into ‘Stuy’ is solely based on your SHSAT scores. The higher your scores, the greater your chances of making the cut.

Because of the academic prowess of the School over the years, it is ranked among the top schools in New York.

This means the school maintains a certain level of integrity hence their meticulous way of admitting new students. That high standard is duly reflected in the school’s acceptance rate.
