The Los Angeles Unified School District(LAUSD) is part of a large number of school districts in the United States serving the educational needs of the American populace.

These school districts are made up of comprehensive, magnet, and charter public schools funded by states and counties across the United States.

New York has the largest school district in the United State known as the Department of Education, NY. Coming in second is the Los Angeles Unified School District(LAUSD.

The LAUSD was established back in 1853 to serve the educational needs of a now very multicultural city and some surrounding areas.

Known for its academic excellence and equity, the LAUSD is currently serving about 80,000 and more students in various grades across the length and breadth of the City and its surrounding areas.

How Many Middle Schools Are In LAUSD?

The city of Los Angeles has about 83 middle schools in LAUSD. This number doesn’t include schools offering PK, K – 12 grades but only schools exclusively offering grades 6 – 8.
